WordPress development & rescue
WordPress sites recovered, re-hosted, integrated and maintained, including the ones other developers left behind.
63Digital builds, integrates and rescues WordPress sites. We've recovered a live site after its developer went out of business, moved sites to managed WP Engine hosting, built federated Algolia search across WordPress and ServiceNow, and built WooCommerce stores and a training-course booking platform on WordPress. If your WordPress site is stuck, we can take it on.
What we do on WordPress
Site rescue
Taking over sites from developers who've gone quiet: access, backups, licences, hosting and a safe-to-update baseline.
Re-hosting
Moving live sites to managed hosting such as WP Engine, cleaning up media and plugins on the way.
Search
Algolia search across WordPress and other content sources, in one relevance-ranked result set.
Booking & payments
Custom booking and payment flows, such as course booking with Stripe and multi-currency fees.
Integrations
WordPress connected to CRMs, accounting and back-office systems through custom plugins and APIs.
How to, from jobs we've done
How to reduce the size of a WordPress media library (safely)
The weight is usually in a small number of oversized original photos, not the thumbnails. Shrink those outside WordPress in a logged batch, capping the longest side at 2,560 pixels, saving JPGs at quality 82 and stripping hidden metadata, then swap them in and rebuild thumbnails. On one site that took 626 originals from 3 GB to under 700 MB.
How to take back your WordPress site when your developer has gone
If you can still log in to wp-admin as an administrator, you can recover the site without the old developer or host. Copy it to hosting in your own name with a migration plugin, find your domain's registrar with a WHOIS lookup and recover that account, then re-license only the premium plugins the site really uses, in the business's name.

Is WordPress right for you?
A good fit when
- ✓Your team already knows WordPress
- ✓You need a content site with a handful of custom features
- ✓You want a large pool of developers and plugins to draw on
Probably not when
- –The 'site' is really an application with complex data and permissions (we'd build that bespoke)
- –You're on a .NET stack and want your CMS there too (see Umbraco)

Common questions
My WordPress developer has disappeared. What should I do first?
Secure access before anything else: domain, hosting, WordPress admin and any premium plugin licences. Then take a full backup before changing anything. We've taken over live sites in exactly this situation.
Can you move my WordPress site to WP Engine?
Yes. We've migrated live sites to WP Engine, auditing plugins and licences and cutting the media library down on the way.
Can WordPress search content from other systems?
Yes. We built a federated Algolia search that indexes WordPress and ServiceNow content and returns one ranked set of results as you type.

Whether your developer has gone quiet or the site just keeps breaking, tell us what's happening and we'll help you get it back under control.
