A smarter marketing site for a self-storage operator

Modernising a multi-site self-storage operator's site — a database-free blog, SEO landing pages, live pricing from the back-office, automated competitor price monitoring and per-branch lead routing.

Modernise, don't rebuild

A full rebuild is rarely the right first move. We layered real improvements onto a legacy site — live pricing, price monitoring, a flat-file blog — so the business got the wins without the risk and cost of starting over.

About

This client is a self-storage operator running more than twenty centres across a major European capital and its region, serving both consumers and businesses. Their marketing site had aged — parts dated back years — and needed modern content, live pricing and better lead handling, but not a ground-up rebuild.

We modernised the framework-free PHP site incrementally: a database-free Markdown blog engine, a set of use-case SEO landing pages, a live-pricing integration to their storage back-office with a size-to-price mapping, automated daily monitoring of competitors' prices, and a quote form that routes each enquiry to the nearest branch.

The site does the heavy lifting now — it quotes real prices, keeps an eye on our competitors, and sends every enquiry to the right centre.

How we built it

A multi-stage approach.

01

Discovery & modernisation plan

We audited an ageing PHP site and planned a series of right-sized improvements — content, SEO, live pricing and lead handling — rather than a risky full rebuild.

02

Content without a database

We built a flat-file Markdown blog engine: posts are plain files with front matter, published simply by uploading — no database, no CMS to maintain.

03

Live pricing

We integrated the client's storage back-office to fetch real unit sizes and rates, and mapped a requested space to the right box and price in the quote form.

04

Market intelligence & leads

We automated daily monitoring of competitors' prices — one via its API, one by scraping — and routed each quote enquiry to the nearest branch's inbox.

The impact

What changed.

Publishing made simple

The blog runs on flat Markdown files with no database — new posts go live on upload, so there's nothing extra to host or break.

Real prices, not guesses

The quote form pulls live unit sizes and rates from the storage back-office and maps a customer's space need to the right box and price.

Eyes on the competition

A daily job tracks competitors' prices — pulling one from its API and scraping another that has none — so pricing decisions are informed, not blind.

Every enquiry, the right branch

The multi-step quote form routes each lead to the nearest of 20+ centres, so enquiries land where they can be answered fastest.

Sitting on an ageing site?

If your site works but feels stuck in the past, we'll modernise it in the places that matter — without a big-bang rebuild.
