System review
Thinking about replacing the Access database or spreadsheets the business runs on? Start with a fixed-price review: a written plan and a fixed price for the first stage. £450 + VAT, and the £450 comes off the build if you go ahead.
A 63Digital system review is a fixed-price look at the system a business runs on, whether that's a Microsoft Access database, a set of spreadsheets or an older in-house system, for £450 + VAT. We find out what it actually does, including the forms, reports and rules buried in the code, how much data there is and what state it's in, and who relies on it. You get a written, staged plan for replacing it one piece at a time, with a fixed price for the first stage. If you go ahead, the £450 comes off the build.
What the review covers
What it does
Every form, report and query, and the business rules hidden in the code or formulas, written down so nothing is lost when it's replaced.
The data
How much there is, where it lives, and what needs cleaning up before it moves: duplicates, gaps and fields used for two things.
Who relies on it
Which people and teams use which parts, what they print, and what they'd miss if it disappeared tomorrow.
A staged plan
The order we'd replace it in, one piece at a time, with the old system running until the new one gives the same answers.
A fixed price
A fixed price for the first stage, so you know what you're committing to before you commit.
Is it for you?
A good fit when
- ✓The business runs on an Access database or spreadsheets that have grown well beyond what they were built for
- ✓Only one or two people really understand how it works
- ✓More people, sites or customers need to use it than it can cope with
Probably not when
- –It's a small tool that one person uses and it still does the job (keep it)
- –You need a quote for a fully specified project (send us the specification instead)
Common questions
What does a system review cost?
£450 + VAT, fixed. If you then go ahead with the first stage, the £450 comes off it.
Isn't replacing a system like this a huge project?
It doesn't have to be done all at once. We replace one part at a time while the old system keeps running, so the cost is spread over stages and each one is priced before it starts.
Do I have to use you afterwards?
No. The plan is yours, and it's written so another developer could pick it up.
What do you need from me?
A copy of the database or spreadsheets if you can share it, and an hour or two with the people who use it most.
What systems can you review?
Microsoft Access and Excel most often, along with older in-house systems built on SQL Server, .NET or PHP. If yours is something we don't know well, we'll say so up front.
